Games Foundry is an independent team of collaborators spread across the United States, United Kingdom, Finland, China and Australia. What makes us unique is that we're developing Folk Tale having never face to face.
For the last two years we've been pouring our hearts, souls, and savings into developing Folk Tale in the hope that one day we can all work under one roof, making games for a community of fans who feel involved in making each one better than the last.
Simon Dean started developing Folk Tale in May 2011. After several months in development he shared early footage and screenshots with the development community and the project expanded into a collaboration, expanding gradually to current team of nine. With a team now spanning fifteen world time-zones, it's become 24-7 game development.
For a longer look at the last two years of development, please see our blog A Tale Of Toast, From Crumbled Beginnings.
Folk Tale will be a sandbox fantasy city builder strategy game in which you lead a ragtag band of peasants in growing a small settlement into a thriving market town, while the dastardly Slavemaster Urzal and his minions plot your downfall. Sound the rallying call and head out into the wilds with parties of heroes and fight back the tide of evil in a game of endless possibilities.
Rule with tyranny and oppression, or liberalism and justice. Play as a merciless expansionist hell-bent on destruction, or as a gold-hoarding mercantilist who'll sell their own grandmother. With random events and dynamic story, in Folk Tale you never know how the story will unfold.
Folk Tale for PC, Mac and Linux is developed by indie collaboration studio Games Foundry.
