Bug Description:
After clicking the tutorial button on the main menu, the soundtrack plays but the screen is black.

Platforms:
PC.

Steps To Recreate:
See above.

Dev Team Comments:
Please submit details of your system specification below, specifically your system memory and graphics card make and model. We will try our best to get this fixed.

UPDATE 1: We are still tracking down the cause. Once identified, we'll develop a fix, and work with those players affected to publish a private update to confirm whether it resolves the problem. Once a fix is validated, we'll roll it into the first public update.

UPDATE 2:
We believe we might have identified the cause and would like to confirm a possible workaround. Having clicked the tutorial button, please don't click or press anything, especially the escape key. If the cut scene begins to play, please confirm by posting below.

UPDATE 3:
Further investigation has highlighted an out of memory error during the loading of cut scene assets. We are now pursuing this avenue of investigation as a likely cause.

Well reinstalling the latest nvidia driver did work.
Sadly when i got to builsd an iron mine the game went to desktop

The same thing happens to me when I click on Tutorial...as well as it crashes to the desktop.

Here are my specs:

Memory: 4GB G.Skill DDR2 (PC2 8500), Model: F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK

GFX Card: EVGA GTX 560Ti

Also, please visit your graphics card manufacturer's website and download and install the latest drivers for your card. We strongly recommend backing up your personal files before making modifications to your computer.

Im Having the same problem...

im running with Geforce GTX 460

I am having the same issue with my ATI card. I hit the tutorial button and everything goes black! I very recently installed the latest graphics drivers from the manufacturer.

Win 7 Ultimate
ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
1024 MB GDDR5 RAM
Running at 1920 x 1080 but have tried other resolutions with the same issue

Side note: I doubt this has anything to do with it but maybe a dual monitor issue? When I hit tutorial it makes both of my monitors black and seems to flash in and out for a second before just becoming black on my primary monitor. The secondary monitor comes back up at a lower resolution than the game and everything is half pushed off the right of the screen.

updated drivers + validated cache through steam, i also tried un-installing and re installing but still nothing but a black screen after clicking to play tutorial
also have tried changing the setting to lower graphics and this has dropped me out to desktop on clicking tutorial

running Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.130318-1533) with a ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series graphics


i have a Dxdiag saved since driver update if needed
